Misfits (Of Science)

Before I started watching the British science fiction tv series Misfits I thought it might be a remake of Misfits of Science, a tv show that aired in the mid 80′s. I couldn’t be more wrong. The new show is so much darker and edgier. None of the fluffy woolly brightness of superheroes who always do the right thing. Definitely worth watching!

You can watch the Misfits trailer too but E4 won’t allow me to embed it so you’ll have to go to Youtube. Silly.

I never realised Courteney Cox starred in the Misfits of SCience. ‘Course as a 10 year old I had no idea who she was back then and this was long before Friends.

The Return of 'Allo 'Allo

Sometimes I’m glad I look in my spam folder. I spotted this delightful email subject:

Important massage from Federal Ministry of Finance

It reminded me of the BBC sitcom, ‘Allo ‘Allo which anyone living in the UK or Ireland and probably further afield will immediately recognise. Luckily I found this video of clips from the “Return of” show aired in 2007. Hilarious stuff!

Peeing into the wind at the North Pole

The funny thing is, when I started reading Richard Hammond’s account of racing Jeremy Clarkson and James May to the North Pole, I did not expect to find out quite so much about the toilet habits of sub zero temperature travellers. Still, a fun read about the Top Gear crew.

“Bloody hell, guys, there’s a bog here. I’ve found it. It’s beautiful. I want to see if it’s real. Give me the gun. And the bog roll. If I’m not back in half an hour, tell my family I died a happy man.”

If that’s a little too squeamish for you, then you really should avoid Clarkson Island. Thanks Mark for twittering this excellent little piece. I love the bit where the young Clarkson gets on the quad bike, and the announcer’s comment that follows ..

In The Name Of The Fada

In the Name of the Fada

You’ll already know about the Irish version of Jump Around by Des Bishop if you’re a regular reader here, but if you have missed previous episodes, please watch the last episode of “In The Name Of The Fada”. It’s on RTE 1 tonight at 10:15pm. Sky+ is set to record it here.

We just watched the 5th episode in New York and Boston and totally enjoyed it. That Korean guy in Times Square had a brilliant grasp of Irish even though he’d never been to Ireland. I’m looking forward to the last episode, even if it does make me feel embarrassed that I’ve forgotten so much of the language…

“Ta sé fucking brilliant!”

Stargate: Ark Of Truth

Sunday 30th March at 9pm on Sky 2. If you’re a fan that’s all you need to know

Stargate: Ark Of Truth, the feature length episode which followed the last and final series of Stargate SG1 was released on DVD in the US at the start of March according to Barry’s post. I thought I’d have to wait until the region 2 DVD became available but Sky ponied up the dosh and I presume it was shown during the week on Sky 1? I’m still catching up on my regular programming through Sky+ and haven’t hit last week yet so I missed any trailers if there were any.

Sky+ is all set to record Ark Of Truth tomorrow night! I hope it’s better than the drivel they served for the final episode! Here’s a trailer to wet your appetite. I think it just might be a winner.
