Carl Zeiss – Silvarem 6×30
Years ago my father inherited an old pair of binoculars from his father. I have them now and did a quick search and then an image search and found this history, and here as well as a product listing.
It was first manufactured shortly after 1910, and was used by the German army in World War 2! Production stopped in 1975.
Does anyone know anything about these binoculors?
Looks like they’re pre-WWII, Brian noticed that “Made in Germany” is printed on the case!
Here’s a picture I found:

Salon – the story of their subcess
Here’s a very interesting interview with the Senior VP of Marketing in Salon about their success with subscription only content. Good read for anyone charging for content on the Internet. (via a.wholelottanothing)
U.S. National Debt – Castro has the Trillion Dollar Bill!
Last night Sky showed that Simpson’s episode where Homer worked for the IRS to spy on his friends and eventually found out that Burns had a Trillion Dollar Bill given to him at the end of WWII to give to the French.
Looks like the U.S. National Debt could do with that bill now eh?
Let’s hope the Chinese don’t go looking for their money back soon!

Amiga Demos in DHTML
Mad! Love these demos! Pity I only recognise the Boing demo and Juggling Robot demos.
I wonder if it’d be hard to make small versions of my C64 demos, even if it was just lots of screen captures..
Massage and Acupuncture – relieve the stress!
I only picked up the last few moments of Paul McKenna’s interview on TodayFM, but right at the end he suggested methods of massage and tapping acupuncture points to relieve stress. I did a quick search and found a few interesting sites. Here’s one picked at random..
I’m well aware that massage relaxes oneself but these are very specific points on the body that can be tapped for different effects!
Trees All Lit Up!
Here’s a more “traditional” picture of the two trees I published yesterday. Some working with the GIMP involved to bring out the sky, but otherwise, a reasonable approximation of a cold night!
