If I were in the house buying market it just got a little easier to spy on the neighbours of your possible new home. My home.ie added a satellite mapping service to their site which allows one to zoom in closer than other online maps, although I don’t think you’ll be watching anyone skinny-dipping..

It’s not quite as smooth as Google or Yahoo’s offering. You have to click the direction arrows instead of dragging the map but it’s not bad for scouting around.

Finally, my map on Useamap links to a spot in Blarney a few hundred meters down the road from where I now sit. They offer driving directions and distances just by clicking on your destination on the map. It’s not perfect. It likes the main road to Cork a little too much, but I guess if you didn’t know an area it’s probably better to stay off the side roads eh?

It’s a sign of the times. We eat fresh strawberries in the middle of winter. They may have travelled thousands of miles and be overpriced but there’s a ready market here for fresh fruit all year round.

They are lovely in porridge first thing in the morning or even with Corn Flakes. They make the milk all creamy and delicious and in the mouth the taste and texture of the fruit just melts on your tongue!

We usually buy in M&S but there we were in Super Valu, and strawberrys are on display. It’s a cruel world when food that’s good for you is so nice too!

The point of this post and my interest in winter fruits is the origin of said produce. They come from Palestine. We hear so much bad news from that part of the world so something as mundane as strawberries is a reminder that life goes on no matter what.

Happy Christmas to you, may you have a nice day tomorrow, I hope with family or friends.

Tom will be there and he has volunteered to speak twice. I won’t be talking, but come up to me and ask me about WordPress MU and wordpress.com, I’ll be the one wearing the WordPress tshirt!

I see that the wiki has been updated with the following message:

All attendees, whether you have signed up already or not, please send your contact email address to barcampireland at gmail dot com. Thanks.

It’s a public wiki and I haven’t seen the same message on the BarCamp Ireland Blog so maybe hold off sending that email until there’s a similar announcement tomorrow. Me paranoid? Never!

While I’m here, blogging at 23:30, this will be of interest to the rest of Automattic and anyone else who works at home – Myths About Working From Home. Unfortunately, it looks like the site is struggling under the load of a free plug on Today FM but I’m sure they’ll sort that out later.
Heh. If I had thought of it I would have tried it when I was a student, but it probably wouldn’t have been such a success 10 years ago..

If you were watching Top Gear tonight you no doubt took note of the Survey they released results for. They’re on the web but the lads in the studio didn’t have or couldn’t give out the URL. If you followed the suggest Google search, you’d have come across these two beauties:

BBC – Top Gear Survey 2005 Results which appears to only show a summary. The top and bottom ten as well as category winners.

The real meat is on topgear.com where they list all the cars entered as well as marques and ratings for each car.

I noticed with relish that Toyota are no. 5 in the manufacturer’s list. Surprisingly, Skoda are in second position, just behind Lexus. The purchase of Skoda by VW has paid off in recent years!
