State of the Art by Spaceballs

demoscene, by Donncha.

This Amiga demo blew me away when I first saw it. There are better ones out there but I think the dancing figures were such an unusual feature at the time it struck a chord with a lot of people.

Check out the follow up demo, Nine Fingers and other releases by Spaceballs. Of course, you should grab the original disks for State of the Art and 9 Fingers and watch on a real Amiga rather than watching a low quality Youtube video!

  1. You can’t beat a bit of Amiga rotoscoping on a Monday. “Skid Row” didnt seem to like it there at the end though.

  2. I think my old Amiga 500 is sitting at home collecting dust. The C64 was thrown out unfortunately but another one can be bought on Ebay..

Something tells me they’d sit here collecting dust too. At least we have emulators to keep us amused!

  3. That was awesome! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I still can’t believe they got this entire demo on a couple of 880k floppies (IIRC)! Tight!

  4. A nice little gem and an absolute rarity in the demo world related to the follow up demo “Nine Fingers” can also be found on YouTube: “Nine Fingers: The Making Of”.

Ah, you really can’t beat that early ninties fashion!

  5. I remember always generated at the Amiga time, but these were huge changes after C16 and C64
