2 Donncha: did you find a way to get rid of this annoying behavior of having to press Alt-tab twice? It is driving me nuts! Thank you in advance!

I still use Swiftfox based on Firefox 2 and I noticed today that sound would work either in the browser or in "any other application". Not both.

I remember having that problem before and lo and behold, I'm not the only one. Here's the <a href=http://www.macewan.org/2006/06/01/howto-firefox-flash-video-sound-on-ubuntu-linux-dapper/" rel="nofollow">solution</a>. Force Firefox to use aoss by editing /etc/firefox/firefoxrc

I may need to edit the config file in /etc/firefox-3.0/ too of course.

Weird, just noticed I need to press ALT-TAB twice to move windows. The first press brings up the window selector but does not move focus. That's annoying.

I hope it went better for you than it did me.

You'd think that I'd learn; this is at least the 4th release in a row that I've tried to upgrade -- resulting in a mess than I'm going to have to do a fresh install to clean up.

I've been jokingly referring to it as "Hardly," because "hardly anything works."

Overall, Ubuntu has been the least-sucky portion of my 10+ years with linux, but I really wish this stuff would be seamlesser. Gentoo was amazingly seamless, but I can't put up with watching it compile everything from source every time.
