I saw this short film at www.the-eviltwin.co.uk on “The Panel” on Network 2 the other night. Unfortunately, the site is an awful flash site. I’ve seen this commercial for the first time a few days ago. I’ll tell you, I’m a cat person, but I still think that was the funniest commercial I’ve ever seen. I know that it’s a sick, demented, brilliant ad, I also know that it’s digital. Not a drop of blood.
Now why do people start talkin’ about killing a dog because of this commercial?

If they killed a person, no one would take a second look. The pigeon was a puppet (read here:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=%2Fnews%2F2003%2F09%2F14%2Fncarad14.xml), and the cat was all digital.
In fact, the cat advert was ‘allegedly’ leaked to the internet, and was never meant for public exhibition. Ford denies approving it (http://www.snopes.com/photos/advertisements/sportka.asp), and says that it was leaked by a member of the advertising firm that designed it. Of course, Nokia did the same thing with the commercial of the cat spinning around while attached to a ceiling fan (http://www.basementv.com/commercials/btv-com-006.html). I don’t have any info about that advert, but I know the two Ford spots were fake.
I didn’t really care for the cat decapitation video, but the pigeon video was great. More like self-defense, haha.

A clever example of the expression ‘curiosity killed the cat’. A moral lesson for everyone in an amusing format, who said adverts can’t be educational. I think all the CLEVER people out there realised it wasn’t a real cat and saw it for what it was: a funny advert to sell a rather rubbish car. As for the people who were demanding that Ford and the advertising agency responcible should die, they should seek pyschiatric help because they obviously can’t tell reality from fantasy.

That has got to be the funniest, most clever, most inspired commercial I’ve ever seen. I showed it to a room full of 300 conventioneers at at a photography seminar, and EVERYONE was laughing and requesting a replay!

Someone just emailed this sicko commercial to me and then I realized it was done in 2003 and….like, I could have been pissed at Ford years ago. Well, I feel better to read it was all in digital fun.

The only problem with this ad is that it appears to glorify cruelty in general. Fake animal or not, it takes a certain kind of sick human being to find something like this amusing.

I don’t like the idea of a company using a car that kills animals…..even though it’s not real. And somehow this is supposed to be funny? I have 4 cats and they are great pets. It made me sick to my stomach to see the cat commercial. I hope that there is a public outcry against their demented commercials and even a boycott of their products unless they are stopped immediately.

These adverts were actually made by an independent company and submitted to Ford. Ford found the adverts to be tasteless and offensive and did not want to be associated with them, and the adverts were rejected. They were never meant to be released, but were leaked by someone at the company that made them.
I don’t know why anyone would find this funny. it is so sad to treat any type of animal this way and should not be laughed at.
