Looks wonderful doesn’t it? Humans vs robots in the Team Fortress 2 world.

The reality is a bit different. Servers are overloaded as players try to join, but there are free servers so it must be buggy too. I didn’t wait around.

OK, there is a way to play this. Host your own server! From the original comment:
‘course if you’re on a DSL connection remote players may find the game rather laggy unfortunately.
And if you find that pressing “F4 to ready” crashes the game then this post will be useful.
bind f4 “say 1 3″; unbind f4
Or use the standard server browser and search for mvm_ in the map field.
Hosted a couple of games of TF2 MVM tonight. @danroundhill and a friend Brian joined and we had a blast. It gets hard but with a team of 6 communicating and playing our roles we could beat them.
I’m amazed that it wasn’t laggy (much) for people. The tips in this comment helped, particularly:
Setting a password with sv_password and then removing it (sv_password “”) is useful for getting friends in first!
Population config files for adjusting the waves of robots!
