WordPress MU 2.7 beta

A beta version of WordPress MU 2.7, the multi blog version of WordPress that runs on such sites as WordPress.com has just been uploaded and is available here.

This is quite a stable release and has been tested by many but it’s not the final 2.7 release so there are probably bugs we haven’t found yet. Don’t put it into production just yet, but if you’re working on a new site, you’re better off using this rather than 2.6.5 as the final WordPress MU 2.7 will be along soon.

Check the timeline for more info, there are still plenty of open tickets and keep an eye on the forums and please help out if you can.

I also want to extend a big thank you to everyone who has helped with this release, be it entering tickets, updating them, creating patches, or helping out on the forums and of course the WordPress community. This software wouldn’t be where it is today without you.

Very exciting, I’ve been running 2.7 from trac long before it was stable enough to be beta. Thanks for all your hard work Donncha, you rock dude.

Awesome! I’ve been running the latest trac version as well. I noticed if you click the “stay updated” link in the footer MU can’t find the release to download and install.

I’ve recently updated my wpmu+buddypress+bbpress site to this versión and afterwards no front page link worked (News, Groups, etc).

I’ve returned to wpmu 2.7 trunk and everything ok again. Did anyone had this problem too?

I have also been using the trac version for a few weeks and have watched all the bugs get fixed. I am sure there are still some, but I don’t see any when I play around in there. Thanks for all your hard work.

BTW, I had a couple of patches to send, but did an SVN update before sending and you had already fixed the problems. :)

Shiny! Been using the trac version for a couple sites but holding clients at bay for others. Looking forward to the full “up” version of 2.7 for those client projects. Thanks Donncha!

I hope the .htaccess has been updated. I noticed on prebeta 2.7 MUs the plugin menu options would mostly bring up 404 pages.

Donncha, you are the best web man I ever seen! You are only person from WordPress developmet, who associated with word “WordPress” in my opinion.
I thinked, that it will be released only in February and I was dissapointed, because at 1st February I must install WordPress MU on my hosting. But today you make me happy. Thanks a lot!!!

JUan – that’s expected, the updater doesn’t work in the beta, it should update to 2.7.1 whenever that comes out though.

ahhhhh, haha ok, thanks Donnacha, so, how do i update it manually?

Working for a good cause with my website so hope I’m not being terribly offensive by asking for help here. Startup nonprofit aimed at awareness of mental health trying to run a news blog and so damn green I can’t figure out how to automatically permalink title. Anyone point me in the right direction for help and I’ll gladly let you cut in front of me at the pearly gates … David
