Bertie Ahern Jokes

It didn’t take long. Bertie Ahern, the Irish prime minister, announced his resignation yesterday and already the joke emails are pouring in. (Thanks Brian and Louise!)

My own contributions:

Sunday Times, December 23rd 2007.

The Bertie score card above is from Bifsniff.com (but created by Brendan O’Connell), anyone want to claim credit for the others? Unfortunately email forwarders don’t usually give credit ..

Gavin, who has blogged the Mahon Tribunal for so long has given his own reaction as well as a chronology of events leading to the resignation yesterday. It’s scary how long the Teflon Taoiseach managed to survive in politics. Nothing stuck to him.

Edit: Green Ink created Bertie 300. Thanks for commenting!

Yea I felt strangely sad on hearing the news. It is the end of and era and, yes, an easy target.

Some funny stuff btw!

Why do we Irish look back at inept, corrupt scum like Ahern with affection. This man is a criminal and shoud be in prison..

I would like to voice my disfaction with Bertie Ahern and his comments on TV of late, his regret that his famous bertie bowl diden’t
get built, his comments that before he stepped down as leader that nobody from the depatment of finance contacted him to say the country he was leading was in finincal melt down, after all he was the mananging dirictor of our country, in a private company he would have got the sack,
not so with this man he ran with his fine fat pension for the rest of his life.
i hope some day that this guy will realise the suffering and grief that he has left a lot of people in this great country of ours, so Bertie you and no bowl, I am sure you are quiet proud and happy with yourself, I agree what you did for Nothern Ireland and its people you can be proud of, its just a pity that the same can’t be said for our Repbluc, It just make so mad. chest
